How can the idea of “pagadiario” be reframed through architecture, to serve decent living conditions, and engage and strengthen the already existing resilience mechanisms of the diverse Venezuelan migrant community? This thesis is a proposal for a multi-purpose paid “pagadiario”, with housing, commerce, cultural spaces, daycare centers and free spaces. Inviting and strengthening all resilience mechanisms that were found in the site study process, and seeking to eliminate existing situations and practices that promote violence, impoverishment, financial slavery and violation of the rights of these migrant families. This is a project designed not only as a space of arrival for migrants, but also as a space of incentive and economic growth, cultural shelter, protection of migrant childhoods, magnifying of cultural knowledge and most importantly, a space for a dignified integration with the existing and local community of the neighborhood.
